Crochet hexagon jacket/Crochet hexagon sweater

In this new post I want to bring you another version of the baby hexagon jacket. This version has no holes, wich makes it warmer and allows other colour combinations.

This pattern, as the other version, is made with two hexagons that folded in half become the two halves of the jacket. Once the two halves are seamed together, we add  the collar and cuffs.

This pattern can be found on the web in several languages as “saquito hexagonal o en hexágono”, “chompita hexagonal”, “chompa en hexágono”, “casaquinho hexágonos”, “hexagon jacket” or “hexagon sweater”. This version is inspired in the Sue’s Hexagon Baby Sweater from Cozy’s Corner.

As most of the post of the blog, this is an ideal project for beginners and those who don’t like the idea of crocheting sleeves separately.

To increase the size of the jacket make bigger hexagons by adding rows.

Here is the PATTERN:

  2. Gracias realmente!

  5. Great idea!
I would like to make one for my baby coming in June. Therefore, I would love to make a 3/6 or better a 6/9 month jacket. Do you have any idea on how many rows have I to add to the hexagon? I do not have any baby the correct size “on hand”.

Thanks a lot for your inspiration,
    Chiara

    • Chiara:
Congratulations for your baby! If you use the same material or one of similar thickness, for the 3/6 months jacket you have to add 2 rows; for size 6/9 months, you have to add 3 rows. This will give the correct width of the sleeves.
Then follow the instructions I posted to shape de jacket (make it longer or wider).

Here you can see a chart with the sizes for babies:

I hope you find it useful.

  6. I am trying the granny hexagon and it is great. I found it on you tube. From there I found you, I am really looking forward to making the closed version. I never knew there was so many different things to make out there on the net as I have always relied on traditional printed patterns. I will certainly explore more now. Many thanks

  8. I love this pattern. I have great admiration for the whole idea of it – you are very clever. I have nearly finished making it and I am very happy with it. Has anyone ever used the idea for a coat for an adult. I would love to make it for myself.
Thank you for providing this pattern free of charge.
